The .260 Remington cartridge, introduced in 1997, replicates the trajectory of the .300 Winchester Magnum with lower recoil due to the high ballistic coefficients of 6.5mm bullets while being based on the AR 10 compatible 308 Winchester cartridge.

260 Remington Upper Receivers give AR-10 / LR308 owners access to this incredibly capable round that is hugely popular in Europe. 260 Remington is effective for small game, medium game, and long range target applications. In many respects, it outperforms 6.5 Creedmoor despite being less popular in the US.
The 260 Remington upper receiver is a fantastic option for hunting both small and medium sized game. In Scandinavia, hunters use 260 Remington for moose and elk, but it is a better fit for varmint and deer in the US.
The average recoil rate of a 260 Remington upper receiver is between 12 and 14 ft.-lbs, depending on the type of ammunition used, placing it slightly below the 16-17 foot-pound recoil of a typical 308 WIN shot.
A 260 Remington Upper Receiver with a high quality barrel will be accurate to 1000 yards and beyond. This is comparable to the 300 Winchester Magnum range with better wind resistance and 50% the recoil.
